About the role

Key responsibilities:

• You will have carriage of active client matters, including communicating with clients, writing submissions and appearing in court.
• Client file management.
• Reporting to and working closely with the Managing Director, including the formulation of submissions and client representation.
• Working remotely using your initiative and professional skills to achieve outcomes for clients and the practice.
• You have an interest in driving and transport law and are prepared to increase your knowledge in this area while using our successful approach.
• Court attendance, primarily by video link and in person as required; including hearings, mentions, sentencing and adjournments.
• Researching, drafting and managing all Court documents including prosecution briefs, case outlines and written submissions.
• Independently liaising with and advising clients on matters including general day to day correspondence and management of their file.

Required Competencies

• Court appearance experience including running hearings.
• Ability to write detailed submissions using our successful submission structure.
• Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills including ability to prioritise tasks and competing deadlines.
• Proactive attitude and approach to all aspects of practice.
• A demonstrated ability to work independently and organise workload to meet inflexible deadlines.
• Strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to complex matter research and client outcome focus.
• Competent skills and experience with LEAP, Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook, in addition to online meeting applications.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Good communicator with willingness and ability to complete administrative tasks when required.

Desirable

• Knowledge/familiarity with driving and transport law.
• Previous experience attending court via AVL.
